De la conquête nous confronte à une page trop vite tournée du roman national français. Avec audace, Franssou Prenant rassemble une communauté de voix complices qui lisent sur un ton neutre une succession d’archives (rapports, témoignages, mémoires, considérations historiques, géographiques, urbanistiques…). Elles rapportent les étapes de la colonisation de l’Algérie par la France entre 1830 et 1848 et dessinent le paysage idéologique d’une entreprise d’anéantissement sidérante.
